How Billie Heggie hit her biggest month of the year in her business

Tell me about yourself and your business…. My name is Billie Heggie and I’m a mom and wife. I’ve been married to my husband Jessie for 10 years and our kids are 9 and 6 years old. When I’m not geeking out on PB stuff these days, I love being out with my family riding our horses, hiking in the hills, and I’ve recently taken up hunting which has been an adventure. I’ve been in network marketing for 18 years this January. I’ve only been with one company that entire time and have ultimately “grown up” in it. My business has seen me through my twenties, thirties, and now I am at the start of my forties. I started my business as a broke insurance agent by day/server by night and I believe being involved in this industry has changed the trajectory of my adult life in many ways.

Walk me through the step-by-step process that you went through to get to where you are today in business? This is a loaded question and too many years have passed to discuss step by step. When I started, I was ignorance on fire and we were unstoppable. Texting at that time was hardly a thing in the world so I’ve seen it not only evolve in society, but in how we conduct our business as well. We grew very fast in those first few years, so fast that we were so busy with NEW people – clients and consultants alike – that many got lost along the way because we were not serving them in any capacity post-purchase.  I can comment that, when I started my business, we conducted our business very differently from the way we do today. ONE thing that has stayed the same however is the need to service our clients and stay connected to our consultants.

(The) thing that has stayed the same however is the need to service our clients and stay connected to our consultants.

How long were you running the business before you started seeing a profit? How did you live through those first few months/years? I started my business working full-time at one job and part-time at the other. I jumped in with “both feet” as they say, and within three months I’d matched the income I was earning at my day job, and one year in I had quadrupled my monthly income and gave notice at my job at 24 years old. I haven’t had a boss since and I would venture to say I’m unemployable. I was able to buy a brand new townhome at age 24 with no cosigner because I was able to save the downpayment myself. That was a huge accomplishment for me. My network marketing income allowed me to travel, see the world and do some amazing mission work in Zambia, Africa.

Why did you start PB? I’ve been a fan of automation, systems, and all those incredible tools available to us for about 7 years. I’ve been an avid fan of podcasts and teaching on it but never could figure out how I could tie it into my business. I had been hearing some buzz about PB and started an account I believe in February 2022 and then I barely touched it for about 6 months.

I had been hearing some buzz about PB…

What was the first time you saw a profit using Project Broadcast? Probably October 2022. I fired my account up, introduced my number to my clients, and used it to message my clients regarding a promotion our company was offering. It was the biggest month of the year in my business until the next month 🙂

If someone walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give them your best tip, what would it be? Spend time on things today that will create more time for you tomorrow. Learning PB is a process, not an overnight thing. The time you invest in this tool today will pay you dividends from the beach this summer or to the ski hills in the winter. It frees you up for the IMPORTANT work of being IN conversation instead of spending all your time just sending the actual messages hoping to strike one up. That’s exhausting and it isn’t scalable in the long run.

Start small. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your PB expertise. Start with your personal clientele and your team and get comfortable messaging them first. Then move on to other groups and ideas.

How has Project Broadcast directly impacted your business? It’s made me excited about my business again because I feel like I can sustain the connection and contact I’m making with clients and have developed better boundaries with having a separate “business number”.
